WHY
UNICODE?
Unicode
is an international standard character set that includes the characters
for virtualy al human languages. This standard set of character
encodings is particularly important for the languages of East
Asia and all other languages that use a non-roman alphabet. Aside
form eliminating the computer encoding tower of Babel, UNICODE
allows a single document to contain characters from different
languages. Without unicode it is extremely difficult to create
multilingual documents; for example, unicode makes it easy to
mix Chinese and English and Japanese all within in a single document
ro web page.
Unicode
is generally regarded as a standard for ebooks
built on the open ebook principle.
