Adobe Formats

Be careful to not be confused by Adobe formats!

Adobe .pdf (Standard) should not be confused with Adobe Digital Editions.  e-Asia, so far, produces only standard .pdf files which can be read by the ubiquitous and free Adobe Reader.  Adobe Reader does a fine job of handling Chinese, Japanese, and Korean text.  The files produced by e-Asia are secured to the extent that they can't be altered --- this serves to preserve the original text and protect against malicious changes.  The e-Asia .pdf files can be printed, saved, etc. -- just not altered.

Adobe Digital Editions are books with various restrictions (Digital Rights Management) offered by commercial publishers and are usually purchased from online bookstores.
