Microsoft Reader can be downloaded from its Microsoft homepage and run on both Pc's and small readings devices such as smartphones and PDA's.  The DRM is a little problematic, but you do not need to activate the Reader software in order to read e-Asia books in .lit format.  The MS Reader is probably the best reader software that there is for small reading devices; unfortunately, the Reader is not routinely updated, and -- as a result -- competitors such as Mobipocket continue to upgrade and challenge the excellence of the MSReader.
