An important resource for understanding the agreements that ended overt warfare on the Korean peninsula in 1953:  Armistice in Korea:  Selected Statements and Documents In .pdf format

Axe-wielding Murder at Panmunjom, documents the truly bizarre incident  -- tree-trimming as a hostile act -- that constituted one of the most serious threats to continued peace in Korea since the end of the war in 1953. [.pdf format]

Sometimes it pays to go along with the boss.  This is a very eloquent speech by a great American general before a sympathetic congress in 1951. Old soldiers never die, the just fade away ...  General Douglas MacArthur's Address before Congress, April 19, 1951 This is a large (34 meg) mp3 file of MacArthur's entire speech.

The War to Resist U.S. Agression and Aid Korea (October 1950 - July 1953), from the Memoirs of a Chinese Marshall --- the Autobiographical Notes of Peng Dehuai (1898-1974).A curiously short chapter that dispassionately (comparatively) discusses the Korean War. [.pdf format]
Kojiki e-Asia intends to make available, in the near future, as many of the Japanese classics as possible. Basil Hall Chamberlain's translation of the Kojiki, Or "Record of Ancient Matters,"is one of the first scholarly attempts at a translation of a critical Japanese classic.  Be aware that this is a VERY large .pdf file of almost 70 MEGs.

Chinese Life in the Tibetan Foothills [.pdf format]is definitely not a travel book or light reading.  Never intended for publication, the author provides a fascinating and very detailed accounts of local customs in the Sichuan area.  Typical of the times (1920's), English translations of terms are accompanied by the Chinese text --- a true blessing for the obscure substance that makes up the bulk of this book. Also available in Mobipocket format.

Chinese Aggression Against Vietnam:  Dossier is
a stinging indictment of China and its relations with Vietnam.  The brief armed conflict between the two neighbors is generally conceded to have been won by the Vietnamese.  [Mobipocket format]

A Volunteer Soldier's Day:  Recollections of the Chinese People's Volunteers in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. In .pdf format; also available in Mobipocket format.  This collection of memoirs by ordinary Chinese soldiers presents the "opposing view" of combat in Korea.
