e-ASIA: A Library of Digital Books, Documents,
Texts, Articles, Maps, Images, Audio ....
e-Asia contains ebooks in a variety of formats that include: MSReader, PDF, Mobipocket, .chm, .exe. Audio files are in either MP3, .wmv (Microsoft) or Apple ipod formats. Maps and images are generally in .pdf or .jpg formats. Please go to the Readers and Formats page for further information about Readers and download information. e-Book readers are, for the most part, light weight, so having a number of these programs available on a computer is common. Most ebook readers are not difficult to use.
e-Asia prefers to use .pdf format for articles and some books. The preferred format for novels and for materials to be viewed on small reading devices (such as PDA) is Mobipocket.
What's New in e-ASIA?
Currently, e-Asia is processing its holdings into a searchable
database. Until the migration is complete, the alphabetical
listing (by author) remains the most reliable listing of
e-Asia holdings.

STATUS OF HOLDINGS MIGRATED TO THE DATABASE:

Complementing the database is an approach that combines browsing of e-Asia holdings in a particular area with the precision of a database search. The East Asian languages pose a number of searching challenges (yes, you can search by character text...) that are the result of imperfections in the all-too-many romanization schemes .
e-ASIA
has created a number of "special
collections" that consist of materials with a particular focus.
These collections include bibliographies of noted authors,
unique materials, and other materials that are selected because
of their unusual or difficult content.About e-Asia:
e-ASIA
hosts a number of "ongoing
projects" that require an extensive and often collaborative effort such as
the
Early Imperial China web site .Other Digital Libraries and Collections:
e-ASIA
offers more than 2,000 books and text items relating to East Asia and select
topics. Visit the e-books library for the latest additions and access to our
library holdings.
In
the course of creating e-books, e-ASIA
generates images and illustrations --- some of
which are
rather remarkable. The source of all images
is clearly indicated.
e-ASIA
has a variety of audio recordings that range from popular music to historic
speeches by notables.
